The thistle is the national flower of Scotland and it stands for independence. We were intrigued to hear the theory that Scotland and Nantucket were once connected before the continents divided. While this is folklore, it does explain the similarity of flora and moors on both these islands, and thus we named this our Nantucket Thistle bed.
